Swap Shop

Next Swap Shop
TBA

Born out of a passion for recycling and reusing and the love of finding a bargain, this simple idea is one of Transition Chichester’s big successes. No money changes hands. It is all about finding new homes for unwanted clutter and keeping stuff out of landfill. People bring whatever they want to bring to our events, held in various venues around the city, and take away as much as they like – all for free!

A Fairtrade cafe, with home-made cakes and bread, and soup from surplus veg, adds to the enjoyment.

The Swap Shop Poem

Exciting morning in the hall
There’s something here for one and all
A lovely watch, a piece of string
At Swap Shop there is everything

Pots and pans, books and toys
Clothes for ladies, girls and boys
Furniture, curtains, electrical things
It’s amazing what a Swap Shop brings

Not for landfill. – Oh no no!
Useful things that should not go
Re-use and wear, make do and mend
At Swap Shop you’ll even find a friend

The hunt begins, we look around
Pick things up then put them down
Do we want this, shall I have that?
It’s in the bag… Full and fat

We can even buy a cup of tea
Or piece of cake for 50p
All this with the help of volunteers
So I think this Swap Shop needs

Three cheers
